“Amazonian Extension”

5.30am wake-up call for a 20-minute walk up to the cliffs where the parrots feed: a stunning show of color! After breakfast, you will set off across the river for an expedition which will bring you all the way to Monkey Island, where a variety of species live in complete freedom. You will then walk for 3 miles through exuberant tropical forest vegetation until you reach Lake Sandoval in the Tambopata-Candamo National Reserve. Numerous animal species live in this environment: birds (sanshos, kingfishers, anhingas), several monkey species (wasitas, capuchin monkeys), otters, caimans and piranhas. One of the most unforgettable moments of the trip: sailing across the Lake on a canoe until sunset.

Dinner and night at the lodge.

After breakfast, you will sail along the river for an hour and a half until you reach a native community on Gamita Island. Two families will show you their traditional costumes, their traditions and way of life. You will then visit a plantation where tropical fruit and other local products (cocoa, banana, coffee) are cultivated, and you’ll be able to enjoy some lunch featuring some typical local dishes.

Night at the lodge.

After breakfast, your guide will accompany you back to Puerto Maldonado where, according to the departure time of your flight, you could visit the local market if there is enough time.  You will then fly to Lima in the late morning. Arrival in Lima and transfer to the Britania hotel.

Free afternoon to enjoy the Peruvian capital at your own pace: whether it be visiting a last museum (Huaca Pucllana), strolling along the ocean front or a last-minute spot of shopping in the vast artisan markets near the Miraflores central park… you will not run out of potential activities!
